6 obcobi1
5 electricclaude
4 mr heatmizer
3 uminga
2 ccaracciolo7
1 tripps111
After a whole mess of heads up hands, ccaracciolo7 went all in with Kh Jh. tripps111 called with 3s-3c.
5d-7h-3h came on the flop giving tripps111 trips and ccaracciolo7 a King high hand with four hearts to the flush
9h on the turn. No help for tripps111. The third heart on the board filled in ccaracciolo7's flush.
9s on the flop. No additional help for ccaracciolo7's flush. This 9s filled in tripps111's full house to take down ccaracciolo7 on the river after he made the flush on the turn.
Great game - feel free to add your comments about specific hands!!

What can I say? I sat tight at the beginning and then caught two pretty lucky situations. The hand that got me set up as the big stack (and therefore merciless bastard!) was pocket rockets. An early position player raised to 3 times, I re-raised, and they called. Flop came three babies and the EP raiser shoves. Now, I don't blame them for making a move at this point. The pot was about 2/3 of their remaining stack and the blinds were creeping up...but it was an easy call for me. EP turns over AQ to be drawing nearly dead for the turn and river.
After that it was big stack business as usual...fairly liberal raising requirements around the money bubble and a few key bluffs. One in particular was quite profitable for me - in two ways. Let me explain.
I had been involved in several pots leading up to this hand. Our generous organizer came in light in the sb. I was her BB all night and had been defending a bit, but mostly getting in free when she limped. I raised her limp as a steal once, but mostly I was just trying to see flops for free in position. I don't remember all the details of the hand, but I do remember putting in a healthy bet on the river with four cards to a flush on the board. SB reluctantly folds and I flip over bottom pair (with no flush card). She later admitted that she had trips but no flush. The purpose of showing this bluff was to get her (or someone else) to make a looser call later with a similar betting pattern which is exactly what happened when with two pair I put in a similar healthy pair and SB called with Queen high.
Before heads up the other hand of note was against Mr. Heatmizer. He had entered a couple pots light (2-3 times raises) over the last few orbits and had made big all in bets a couple times already after the flop/turn. In this hand I believe he had position on me (although I can't remember). I looked down at Jacks and we headed to the flop for a modest investment (2 times the bb I think). The flop brought a K 9 X. I bet and he called. The turn was a blank and I checked. Mizer then shoves. Now, I hesitated a bit here, but really couldn't put him on a K. If he had one, I didn't think he would just call the flop. At that point and with his smaller stack, hitting that king is go time - and just calling my probe bet would be too risky. So, the shove on the turn felt like second pair or a semi-bluff....which in fact is what it was. Mizer showed Q 10 for an inside straight draw and an overcard. The river was a blank and the money bubble burst. If I were a mid-stack here or he had shoved on the flop, I like Mizer's play. The problem with the shove on the turn in this case however was that I had a huge chip lead and calling wasn't going to hurt me that much.
Anyway, it was a fun game and heads up was sort of a sparing match. I decided to slow waaaaay down once it started and just try to pick solid spots to get my money in. With a 3 to 1 chip lead I could afford to be bluffed out of marginal situations. It worked out, I won a race...and that was that.
Looking forward to HORSE next week!
tripps - you are the biggest bluffer! I should have known you didn't have anything - bullying me off those my trips. I just didn't have the stack to stand up to you.
I'll get you next time - and your little dog too!
